Here's Lily

About The Book

Grow with the spirited, sometimes awkward, but always charming Lily as she learns what real beauty is.
In this fun, entertaining story, readers meet awkward sixth grader Lily Robbins who, after receiving a compliment about her looks from a woman in the modeling business, becomes obsessed with her appearance and with becoming a model. As she sets her sights on winning the model search fashion show, she exchanges her rock and feather collection for lip gloss, fashion magazines, and a private “club” with her closest friends. But when the unthinkable happens the night before the fashion show, Lily learns a valuable lesson about real beauty.
This best-selling, Biblically based fiction series for girls—with a fresh new look and updated content—addresses social issues and coming-of-age topics, all with the spunk and humor of Lily Robbins as she fumbles her way through unfamiliar territory. As readers come to love Lily and her stories, they’ll also benefit from the companion nonfiction books that will help them through their own growing pains.
My Review
We love this book! It is a delightful book for tweens and a great encouragement for girls who  feels awkward about themselves  and who are struggling with  bullying issues.  Here's Lily is a christian based book.  I definitely would suggest this book series to any mother asking it for their own daughter. This is a great gift too for your little lady this coming Valentines Day.

Cliques, Hicks, and Ugly Sticks

ABOUT THE BOOK: Just when April Grace thought the drama was over . . . After an automobile accident, Isabel St. James—resident drama coach and drama queen—needs help putting together the church play. Mama insists April Grace and Myra Sue will help. April’s fall is now devoted to spending every afternoon with Isabel and Myra Sue—if anyone is as big of a drama queen as Isabel, it’s Myra Sue. Plus, she’s dumb. (Okay, not dumb, but "older sister dumb.") If that’s not enough, Isabel is wreaking havoc in the community trying to get Rough Creek Road paved, the new boy at school will not leave her alone, and then Mama drops the biggest bombshell of all . . . April Grace is no longer going to be the baby of the family . . . Girls will completely relate to April and love her sense of humor as she deals with siblings, boys, and the many changes that come with growing up.
MY REVIEW: Cliques, Hicks and Ugly Sticks written by KD McCrite is a great book for preteens. This is the second book in the series Confessions of April Grace . Though I had not read the first one , I didn’t have any trouble following the story and the characters that were used in the book. This is great story about a young girl April Grace going through a lot of changes in her young life. April Grace is an 11-year-old girl entering her first semester of junior high. The story is set in the 80’s. Themes regarding family, community, compassion, self-esteem, forgiveness, and living out one’s faith are subtly woven throughout this fun story. If you have a young daughter, I recommend this book.
